August is a beautiful thing. We have colorful flowers in bloom, tomatoes from the garden, and sweet corn on the cob and peaches from the roadside stands. We have warm breezes, plenty of sunshine, and as a teacher, I get to wake up without an alarm for a couple more weeks. I always try to mentally "bottle this up" to remember when I'm struggling with those cold, dark February mornings. My way of trying to save this feeling was in a painting. I painted flowers from my memory and imagination and scribbled the positive vibes in the air with bright yellows and peaches. I love the way this painting picks up the subtle colors of its surroundings.
